Cestria Girls win the first MTG United for Peace Cup UK 2010

The first MTG United for Peace Cup UK tournament was played on Saturday 11 September in Westway Sports Centre in west London. Seven girl’s U14 teams battled it out to become the inaugural champion of the event. The final was played between the London side Sernab girls and Cestria Girls from County Durham. In the end Cestria Girls beat a Sernab team plagued by injuries.

The day included food and entertainment, and a special appearance from Rebecca Spencer and Gemma Davison from the Women’s Premier League team Arsenal Ladies. This was a real highlight for the girls taking part in the event. The Westway Sports Centre, where the tournament was held was a location in the computer game Fifa Street 2.

Cestria Girls now travel to the Norwegian capital of Oslo in October to play in the MTG United for Peace Cup, which will also feature the winning teams from countries in Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and Africa.
