Alytaus Orphanage will represent Lithuania in MTG United for Peace Cup 2010 in Oslo

Over the weekend of 28 and 29 August, 10 Lithuanian orphanages from across the country participated in the MTG United for Peace tournament. Held in the nation’s capital of Vilnius, the two-day event, which featured more than just football matches, saw Alytaus Orphanage come out on top and take the Lithuanian title.

The tournament was kick-started with an opening ceremony attended by local TV stars, actors and pop artists, much to the delight of the participating children. The teams also participated in a variety of friendship and team building activities related to sports.

All children participating were awarded with different prizes. The Head Coach of the Lithuanian National Team personally awarded the best players of the tournament with signed official FIFA 2010 match balls.

All participants are looking forward to next year’s tournament in Lithuania while the Alytaus Orphanage team is very excited to be heading off to represent their nation in the MTG United for Peace Cup in Oslo later this year.
